Beacon Hill

Situated along a ridge with views over downtown Seattle, Puget Sound, and the Olympic Mountains, Beacon Hill is one of the city’s unsung treasures. A vibrant Asian community accounts for a wealth of authentic shops and restaurants, including Fou Lee Market (2050 S Columbian Way), with its trays of tempting take-out dishes plus imported produce, condiments, seasonings, and Golden Daisy (2518 Beacon Ave S), a must for dim sum and Hong Kong–style barbecue. A hub of Latino culture, the neighborhood is also home to family-owned Cafetal Quilombo (4343 15th Ave S), which serves up to-die-for pork and vegan tamales, and Carnitas Michoacán (2500 Beacon Ave S), where grilled-meat tacos pair nicely with a fruit-infused agua fresca or a piquant michelada. Beacon Hill has seen an influx of hip culinary newcomers in recent years, from Mediterranean-inspired Homer (3013 Beacon Ave S) and fried chicken hotspot Milk Drunk (2805 Beacon Ave S) to Filipino Musang (2524 Beacon Ave S) and the Black- and Latino-owned coffeehouse The Station (1600 S Roberto Maestas Festival St). Seattle’s temperate climate means Beacon Hill’s parks are always in season. Hilltop Jefferson Park (3801 Beacon Ave S) features a golf course as well as picnic shelters, a skate park, a playground, and wide-open space perfect for kite flying and running around.
