Founded in 2021 as an online magazine dedicated to spotlighting and uplifting art and culture from the African diaspora, in 2022 ARTE NOIR expanded its footprint with a physical space in the Central District, the heart of Seattle’s historic Black community.

ARTE NOIR’s mission is to be a gathering place for exploring the dynamic creativity of the African diaspora, with the added component of a gallery showcasing Black art, a retail space generating revenue for Black artists, and creating room for training and serving the needs of the Black creative community.

In the coming months, ARTE NOIR will expand to include a small recording studio for training young people in audio and music production. Additionally, an art and maker space will be completed for classes and artist use.
